Mr. Ben Nangombe, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), presided over a high-level validation meeting for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Essential Health Services Package (EHSP) from November 8-10, 2023. This validation process convened an extensive stakeholder consultation workshop, uniting government ministries, private sector providers, medical aid funds, regulatory bodies, academia, civil society, and development partners.

Crucial technical support for the development of Namibia's groundbreaking UHC policy and the EHSP revision was provided by the USAID-funded Local Health System Sustainability Project. By implementing these health initiatives, MoHSS will gain the capacity to enact a variety of reforms aimed at strengthening the healthcare system. These reforms encompass addressing compassion, fostering a human touch, and enhancing the conduct of health workers with patients. Additionally, they seek to improve service accessibility, promote equity, and broaden financial protection.
