Religious leaders and community health workers collaborated to promote COVID-19 vaccination in two regions of Tajikistan.

With support from USAID’s LHSS Project, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MOHSPP) in Tajikistan strengthened Tajikistan’s national laboratory system and supported the country’s COVID-19 Country Preparedness and Response Plan.

The assessment findings inform the MoHSPP and its international partners on interventions to improve the quality of vaccination services, not only for COVID-19 but beyond. This ultimately leads to increased access to improved services in Tajikistan.

The purpose of the assessment, conducted in 2021 by Two Oceans in Health for the LHSS Latin America and Caribbean Activity, was to understand the Dominican Republic context for expanding social health protection to migrant women.

Accurate and timely identification of COVID-19 variants in circulation is critical to an effective COVID-19 response. Following the delivery of parts and equipment to refurbish the country’s only COVID-19 specific genomic sequencing machine, LHSS supported training for laboratory specialists on genomic sequencing of COVID-19 virus variants. 

LHSS provides technical assistance to the Dominican Republic, and this five-year roadmap outlines a strategic vision, objectives, and initiatives for reaching the final milestone of expanded insurance and standardized health service packages for migrant women residing in or transiting through the Dominican Republic.
