The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) hosted the first-ever Lagos State Health Insurance Summit on July 27, 2023, marking the state government’s renewed commitment and energy for accelerating progress toward universal health coverage.

Through intensive engagement with residents, health workers and other community leaders countered misinformation and eased people's concerns. The result: thousands more COVID-19 vaccinations.

This analysis identified several inefficiencies related to how the financial budget and other financial resources are allocated and spent. It also presented potential actions that can improve resource allocation within the MoHSS budget and address some of the challenges identified during the analysis.

This process guide outlines an iterative process to support budgetary allocation decisions aligned with regional populations and needs as prioritized in the EHSP. The process guide proposes a broad decision-making framework that can be used to review current practices and move toward more efficient approaches in resource allocation.

The Namibian government has a long history of working with the private sector to deliver essential health services. However, the engagement between the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) and private sector actors within the health sector is mostly through ad hoc interactions during national campaigns, planning processes and service delivery. Accurate and timely identification of COVID-19 variants in circulation is critical to an effective COVID-19 response. Following the delivery of parts and equipment to refurbish the country’s only COVID-19 specific genomic sequencing machine, LHSS supported training for laboratory specialists on genomic sequencing of COVID-19 virus variants. 

Five innovators—from Nigeria, Senegal, India, and Cameroon— are working with LHSS to sustainably scale up their businesses and reach more people with their vital health services.

In Tajikistan, LHSS addresses immediate epidemic prevention, detection, and response needs while building on the existing in-country national health system and health system resilience strategies.
